Raksa Son

Physician Assistant Raksa Son boasts a remarkable academic journey as a proud graduate of Lowell High School, Bowdoin College, and, ultimately, Tufts University School of Medicine. Her unwavering passion for primary care and the desire to serve her childhood community led her to fulfill her dream by becoming part of Mill City Medical.

Raksa’s medical career commenced as a pathology lab assistant and phlebotomist at Lowell General Hospital. This hands-on experience immersed her in the science of patient medicine prior to pursuing her PA degree in patient care. Her passion for the science of medicine truly sets Raksa apart due to her genuine enthusiasm for educating patients in simple, layman terms about the pathophysiology of their illnesses, enabling them to grasp the rationale behind their diagnoses and treatments. Embracing a core philosophy of shared decision making, Raksa collaborates closely with each patient to craft treatment plans that both parties fully comprehend and agree upon. Raksa began her PA career at Mount Auburn Hospital and AFC Urgent Care prior to joining Mill City in 2023.

Beyond medicine, Raksa’s heart lies with food, and she finds immense joy in Lowell’s diverse culinary scene, featuring an array of ethnic cuisines. Being born in Cambodia, she cherishes the abundance of Cambodian grocery stores and restaurants in the area. When not attending to her patient care responsibilities or exploring delectable dining spots, Raksa can often be found relishing quality time with friends or immersing herself in the world of video games.

Additionally, Raksa’s language proficiency in Central Khmer and French further enriches her ability to communicate effectively with a broader range of patients, fostering a more inclusive and patient-centered approach to healthcare
